Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and build core simulator subsystems for scene authoring, physics, sensor simulation, and rendering across manipulation, locomotion, navigation, and long-horizon robotics scenarios.
- Profile and optimize physics, rendering, training, and data-pipeline workloads for interactive workstations and cloud-scale execution.
- Integrate GPU physics, USD/Hydra rendering, offline path tracing, vectorized environments, GPU-resident state, procedural variation, domain randomization, and ground-truth labeling.
- Build simulation-based release gates with scenario suites, deterministic replay, benchmarks, regression tests, and metrics.
- Integrate simulation into config-driven collect–merge–train–eval workflows and containerized GPU jobs in partnership with the AI operations team.
- Develop digital twins, sensor models, and hardware-in-the-loop configurations connecting robotics software on Qualcomm silicon with host or cloud simulation.
- Build synthetic-data pipelines for robot foundation models and task models, and quantify sim-to-real differences using characterization and calibration data.
- Collaborate with robotics AI infrastructure, perception, controls, hardware, systems, test, and silicon teams; produce design documents, APIs, reviews, tests, and technical documentation.
- At senior levels, lead design and testing efforts, engage external partners, and communicate technical findings, trade-offs, and roadmap implications to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related experience; or a master's degree and 3+ years; or a PhD and 2+ years.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and production code experience.
- Working knowledge of robotics simulation concepts such as rigid-body dynamics, kinematics, coordinate frames, numerical integration, or sensor models, or the aptitude to develop that knowledge quickly.
- Depth in robotics simulators or real-time 3D engines, GPU programming and performance engineering, machine learning for robotics, 3D graphics and scene pipelines, or robotics and distributed systems.
- Experience with some combination of MuJoCo/MJX, Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Newton, PhysX, Gazebo, Drake, Unreal Engine, Unity, CUDA, Warp, Vulkan, compute shaders, PyTorch, OpenUSD, ROS 2/DDS, URDF/MJCF, containers, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, TensorBoard, or Weights & Biases.
- Ability to integrate with Kubernetes-native workflow orchestration, containerized GPU jobs, shared-storage data lakes, experiment frameworks, checkpoint/resume systems, and experiment tracking.
- Ability to work independently across evolving technical stacks and use modern AI tools, coding workflows, and knowledge bases effectively.
- At senior levels, ability to lead technical design, testing, external collaboration, and communication of measured capabilities and trade-offs.
