Base Salary
$176k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Shape the long-term architecture for systems, ensuring both short-term functionality and long-term health.
- Translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering projects and manage the technical roadmap.
- Champion improvements in system performance and tech debt reduction.
- Establish best practices for deployment, alerting, and on-call health.
- Drive alignment across product, design, and operations, resolving bottlenecks and making trade-offs.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Participate in Lyft’s broader internal engineering community as a high-bar interviewer.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in designing and running fault-tolerant, large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience driving technical roadmaps and managing cross-team dependencies.
- Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with public cloud platforms and modern container orchestration technologies.
- Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on lifting up fellow engineers.
