Responsibilities
- Build the Capability Factory, an internal platform for teaching humanoid robots new skills at scale.
- Curate, preprocess, version, and manage large-scale robot telemetry datasets for training.
- Design and operate scalable data pipelines and compute infrastructure for batch and streaming workloads.
- Ensure training-data quality, accuracy, consistency, access control, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with machine learning teams on MLOps, model evaluation workflows, and connections between training and real-world robot performance.
- Build backend APIs, services, data warehouse solutions, BI dashboards, and frontend features for internal users.
- Operate production systems, participate in on-call incident response, and improve reliability through postmortems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience owning and delivering complex systems end-to-end.
- Strong backend engineering experience with production-grade APIs and services, data modeling, error handling, and performance under load.
- Experience building and maintaining petabyte-scale data pipelines, including batch and streaming processing, data quality, and schema evolution.
- Experience designing workflow orchestration systems with retries, observability, and graceful failure handling.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts including eventual consistency, idempotency, backpressure, job scheduling, and failure modes.
- Experience shipping and operating production systems on a major cloud provider with attention to cost, reliability, and security.
- Experience deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes, including scheduling, resource allocation, and cluster health.
- Ability to build both backend and frontend components of internal products.
- Experience with on-call operations, incident triage, and reliability improvements.
- Preferred experience includes ML infrastructure or MLOps, distributed compute frameworks, robotics or embodied AI, BI and data warehouses, multi-cloud storage, and frontend product design for internal tools.
