Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robust, scalable software components and features.
- Develop control-plane and data-plane software for Cisco IOS XE switching, routing, wireless, and IIoT products.
- Analyze requirements and create software designs, design documents, and functional specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to maintain system stability.
- Improve development lifecycles, engineering processes, and industry practices.
- Develop innovative solutions that may generate patents and intellectual property.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience, or a master's degree plus 3 years, or a PhD plus 0 years.
- Experience with control-plane or data-plane software, data structures, wireless technologies, Linux, RTOS, or networking OS internals.
- Proficiency writing quality C/C++ code.
- Experience developing software or firmware for networking products.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and system design.
- Preferred experience with traffic generators or analyzers such as IXIA or Sniffer.
- Experience with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and complex systems architecture is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with high availability, IPC, memory management, distributed communications infrastructure, serviceability, containers, or virtualization is preferred.
- Cisco networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are a plus.
- Experience building an agentic network-diagnostics assistant using Python, OpenAI APIs, RAG, and MCP-based tools is listed.
