Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain embedded software and firmware for electronic and electromechanical control products.
- Provide ongoing production support by troubleshooting technical issues and implementing solutions that improve performance, quality, and reliability.
- Drive product improvements, cost reduction, value engineering, and product customization through firmware optimization.
- Apply knowledge of microprocessors, embedded systems, and software design principles to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers to define, design, integrate, and validate embedded product solutions.
- Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Sourcing teams on product requirements, customer needs, and supplier selection and development.
- Coach less experienced engineers and explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Maintain thorough release documentation and manage diverse workloads within a global, multicultural, and multilingual organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++ and software product development for high-volume production.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication ability with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong experience with RTOS, multitasking environments, Embedded Linux, software and system design, module development, and software architecture.
- Solid hardware and low-level software knowledge, including BSP, HAL, bootloaders, custom hardware, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and USB stacks.
- Hands-on experience implementing RS-232, SPI, and I2C communication protocols.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, debuggers, and protocol analyzers.
- Understanding of SDLC and development methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall.
- Experience with development, version control, testing, and quality tools including Bitbucket, Jira, Visual Studio, IAR Embedded Workbench, Bamboo, and SonarQube.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, leadership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and manage diverse workloads.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and Visio, plus willingness to travel as required, occasionally for extended periods.
- Preferred experience with NXP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, ESP, and Renesas microcontrollers or microprocessors, ARM architectures, and IAR Embedded Workbench.
- Working knowledge of Assembly language, low-level embedded software development, wireless communication technologies, connected devices, and connected systems architectures.
