Base Salary

$200k - $230k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, code, and support video features across live ingestion, transcoding, integration, storage, and playback at scale.
  • Influence and communicate the strategic technology roadmap for the video platform with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager.
  • Collaborate with mobile, web, machine learning/computer vision, platform, and product teams on video processing projects.
  • Review designs and code pull requests, pair on architectures, and provide hands-on technical guidance.
  • Build and connect internal SDKs, frameworks, and tooling that simplify video integration for product teams.
  • Define and build real-time monitoring and measurement systems for critical video workflows and operational support.
  • Participate in an occasional on-call rotation to support production video systems.
  • Lead, mentor, interview, and onboard software engineers in video and live streaming.

Requirements

  • Strong background in video and audio streaming, preferably live streaming of user-generated content.
  • Extensive experience architecting and building scalable, high-performance video pipelines in cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of video packaging, codecs, and related streaming technologies and tools.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building live and VOD streaming workflows across broadcast, ingest, transcoding, storage, and playback systems.
  • Proficiency reading or coding in languages used in video systems, such as C#, Go, C++, Rust, and Python, plus experience with Node, TypeScript, React, Kotlin, or Swift.
  • Experience designing, building, or connecting internal APIs and SDKs across the stack.
  • Experience mentoring, training, documenting, and collaborating with other engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with mobile broadcasting of user-generated content and optimizing streaming quality and reliability across devices and networks.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more video players.
  • Front-end development experience in web, iOS, or Android is required.
  • Familiarity with computer vision concepts, architectures, or tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with video advertising systems concepts, architectures, or tools is a plus.
