Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and partner teams on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs
- Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues
- Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues, and support availability and on-call efforts
- Set and improve code review and design standards through writing and technical talks
- Mentor engineers, provide feedback and guidance, support new hires and interns, and contribute to hiring
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin
- Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
- Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components using elegant, simple, and extensible designs
- Ability to make significant changes safely in large codebases using appropriate tools and practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across a global engineering team
- Willingness to participate in a required on-call rotation
