Responsibilities
- Provide Site Reliability Engineering support for automation services and maintain reliability, performance, and uptime targets.
- Write, update, and maintain infrastructure and automation code, infrastructure-as-code modules, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring and alerting scripts.
- Serve as the highest escalation point for production incidents, lead root cause analysis, and resolve complex platform issues.
- Lead design sessions for new services, cluster expansions, and platform improvements.
- Manage, coordinate, and review the work of DevOps Engineers while planning and prioritizing personal workload.
- Own production environments and enforce technical standards, documentation, and operational best practices.
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Applicants must be current City employees who are permanent in the title or reachable on the applicable civil service list.
- A qualifying pathway requires a master’s degree in computer science and three years of progressively responsible full-time IT experience, including 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.
- Alternative pathways require a bachelor’s degree and four years of qualifying IT experience, or a four-year high school diploma or equivalent and six years of qualifying IT experience.
- Candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of qualifying IT experience, including 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience.
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience may qualify, with specified undergraduate or graduate credit substitutions subject to limitations.
