Responsibilities
- Define and drive architecture strategy for migrating legacy gaming technology stacks to the Carbon platform.
- Establish enterprise-wide engineering standards, architectural patterns, development practices, shared frameworks, SDKs, deployment approaches, telemetry, and development tooling.
- Design scalable, maintainable, and performant architectures for enterprise game development ecosystems.
- Provide architectural guidance for Unity, Godot, proprietary engines, and related toolchains.
- Lead architectural reviews, technical design sessions, modernization roadmaps, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
- Guide integration between shared platform technologies and studio-specific game implementations.
- Support automated testing, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and cloud-enabled workflows.
- Ensure architectures meet performance, reliability, security, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Identify technical risks and guide mitigation strategies while advising leadership on modernization and platform investments.
- Collaborate with studio engineering, platform engineering, product management, infrastructure, QA, compliance, security, and executive leadership.
- Influence technical direction across teams without direct authority and communicate architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience is required.
- Deep expertise in game development technologies, modern software architecture, and cross-functional technical leadership.
- Highly desired experience with Unity, Godot, and custom engine technologies.
- Ability to define enterprise architecture strategy, lead technical design, and guide modernization across multiple business units.
- Ability to balance platform consistency, studio autonomy, innovation, business objectives, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work in a highly regulated gaming environment and meet applicable licensing, background investigation, security, and legal requirements.

- The role is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and requires on-site presence four days per week.
- Candidates based in Chicago, Illinois are considered, though Las Vegas is preferred.
