Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end QA and testing strategy for complex enterprise Appian applications.
- Develop test strategies, plans, scenarios, cases, traceability, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform functional, integration, system, regression, API, end-to-end, exploratory, performance, scalability, volume, reliability, and security testing.
- Design and maintain automated testing frameworks and regression suites for Appian applications.
- Automate UI and end-to-end testing using Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent frameworks.
- Perform REST and SOAP API and integration testing using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.
- Validate Appian workflows, business rules, SLAs, exception handling, escalations, parallel processing, asynchronous processes, Records, Data Fabric, database transactions, and data integrity.
- Test authentication, SSO, authorization, roles, groups, object security, and record-level security.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines and establish quality gates.
- Perform root-cause analysis, lead defect triage, assess release risk, and provide release quality sign-off recommendations.
- Validate deployments and environment promotions across development, test, staging, and production environments.
- Define QA standards, reusable testing patterns, automation standards, test-data strategies, and quality metrics.
- Mentor QA engineers and developers and collaborate with engineering, architecture, product, security, risk, and business teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software quality engineering or testing experience, including enterprise application testing.
- 4+ years of hands-on testing experience with Appian applications or significant experience testing complex BPM or workflow platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Appian SAIL, Process Models, Records, Data Fabric, Sites, business rules, integrations, Connected Systems, Web APIs, and application architecture.
- Advanced experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks using technologies such as Selenium, Playwright, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong experience with functional, integration, system, regression, end-to-end, exploratory, API, database, workflow, security, performance, and load testing.
- Experience with SQL, database validation, data integrity, reconciliation, backend testing, and complex workflow or BPM applications.
- Experience integrating automated testing with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent test and defect management platforms.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery, SDLC, test lifecycle, defect management, and release governance.
- Ability to lead QA activities across multiple developers, applications, and integrated systems and independently investigate complex failures.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Current active Appian Certified Associate Developer certification is required.
- Appian Certified Senior Developer certification is strongly preferred; Appian Certified Lead Developer and software testing, test automation, or quality engineering certifications are preferred.
