Responsibilities
- Lead complex migrations of legacy React, Vue, and other frontend applications to Next.js, including Pages Router to App Router transitions.
- Conduct technical assessments and code audits, identify performance and architectural issues, and deliver improvement roadmaps.
- Architect and implement high-performance Next.js applications using advanced rendering and deployment capabilities.
- Optimize application performance and Core Web Vitals using tools such as Vercel Speed Insights.
- Build production AI solutions, including conversational interfaces, agents, MCP servers, and agentic workflows, using Vercel’s AI SDK and AI Cloud.
- Embed with customers to build and ship production TypeScript applications within their systems and constraints.
- Deliver workshops, pair programming, documentation, and knowledge transfer to customer teams.
- Build stakeholder relationships across engineering, product, and executive teams and translate technical capabilities into business outcomes.
- Support pre-sales discovery calls, scoping sessions, and proposal development.
- Identify reusable patterns and share implementation insights with Product and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a customer-facing technical role such as consulting, solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, or technical founding.
- Expert-level TypeScript skills and daily production use of TypeScript.
- Deep Next.js expertise, including App Router, Server Components, server-side rendering, static generation, incremental static regeneration, and edge functions.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale frontend migrations to Next.js in production environments.
- Mastery of React, including state management, performance optimization, streaming, suspense, and concurrent features.
- Production experience with LLMs and AI applications, including prompt engineering, agent development, and tool-use patterns.
- Strong communication, technical discovery, executive presentation, mentoring, customer relationship, and business acumen skills.
- Willingness to travel 25–40% to customer sites.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise migrations from Create React App, Gatsby, or custom webpack setups; Core Web Vitals optimization; MCP; enterprise AI transformation; micro-frontends; module federation; open-source contributions; security and compliance reviews; multi-region architectures; or relevant industry experience.
