Responsibilities
- Enable new language, vision, vision-language, and multimodal models on Snapdragon platforms.
- Analyze model implementations and computational graphs, including operators, tensor shapes, data flow, and execution behavior.
- Implement model re-authoring, operator decomposition, graph transformations, layout changes, backend adaptations, pipeline stages, model mappings, quantization recipes, and validation utilities.
- Convert, optimize, quantize, calibrate, compile, and export models for Qualcomm AI accelerators.
- Measure and improve model accuracy, latency, throughput, memory consumption, model size, and power efficiency.
- Debug issues across model code, graphs, quantization, compilers, runtimes, operating systems, and hardware.
- Develop unit, integration, accuracy, performance, and on-device validation tests using maintainable Python and C/C++ code.
- Collaborate with research, hardware, software, QA, product, and customer-facing teams; Senior Engineers own larger features, contribute to design, mentor junior engineers, and drive delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or a qualifying master’s degree or PhD.
- Senior Engineer candidates must have 2+ years of software design, development, and delivery experience; the posting also lists 1+ year for certain degree paths and project or internship experience for entry-level Engineer candidates.
- Good programming skills in Python and/or C/C++, with strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, debugging, testing, and source control.
- Foundational knowledge of AI/ML, neural networks, deep learning, model inference, and common model execution workflows.
- Practical experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or equivalent tools, including reviewing and validating generated code.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar software and model implementations, perform structured root-cause analysis, collaborate effectively, and communicate technical concepts.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, AI/ML inference or model optimization experience, familiarity with PyTorch, ONNX, Hugging Face Transformers, graph tooling, quantization, transformer models, Linux, embedded or system-level software, Android or QNX, CMake, Git, testing, profiling, hardware accelerators, and commercial AI software stacks.
- Exposure to Snapdragon SoCs, NPUs, HTPs, or other AI accelerator architectures is preferred.
Benefits
- Annual discretionary bonus program and potential annual RSU grants are offered in addition to base pay.
- Qualcomm offers a competitive benefits package supporting employees at work, at home, and at play.
- The posted annual pay range is $140,800.00–$211,200.00, excluding bonus and equity components.
- Qualcomm provides reasonable disability accommodations during the application and hiring process.
About Qualcomm
Qualcomm is a public semiconductor company headquartered in San Diego, founded in 1985, that designs and sells wireless chipsets and platforms for mobile devices, automotive, IoT, and networking, notably the Snapdragon application processors and 5G modems. It also licenses a large portfolio of cellular patents to device makers, generating revenue alongside chip sales; its technology underpins many Android smartphones and emerging automotive and edge-compute systems, and it trades on NASDAQ as QCOM.
