Responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle of complex Workday integrations and connected internal or external systems from design and build through production support.
- Design, build, test, and maintain solutions using Workday Studio, EIBs, APIs, middleware, orchestration, scripting, and low-code capabilities.
- Build workflow automation, intelligent integrations, and AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual work and improve People Technology operations.
- Use AI-assisted engineering practices for development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and solution quality while meeting security, privacy, and governance requirements.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex incidents by analyzing logs, payloads, timing, data mappings, and system behavior.
- Ensure solutions provide data accuracy, security, performance, resilience, and maintainability during payroll, benefits processing, and organizational changes.
- Improve engineering standards, integration patterns, reusable components, runbooks, and testing approaches.
- Partner with Functional, Product, and Operations teams to translate business needs into practical engineering solutions.
- Explore Workday Orchestrate, Extend / Build, and future Workday platform capabilities alongside external enterprise technologies.
- Maintain technical documentation and apply software engineering practices across design, testing, version control, deployment, and support.
- Mentor junior technical specialists and raise capability across integrations, automation, and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Typically 5–8 years of experience in integrations, systems engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting Workday integrations or equivalent enterprise HR platform integrations.
- Knowledge of APIs, REST/SOAP, XML, JSON, middleware, orchestration, scripting, flat files, SFTP, and encryption mechanisms.
- Experience with reusable design, version control, automated or structured testing, disciplined deployment, and technical documentation.
- Experience with workflow automation, AI-assisted development, or AI-enabled enterprise solutions, or the ability to develop these capabilities quickly.
- Understanding of enterprise data models, interface dependencies, failure modes, and security, privacy, and compliance requirements for sensitive employee data.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems, vendors, and integration patterns and implement durable fixes.
- Ability to work independently on ambiguous problems, assess technical options, apply judgment, and escalate architectural concerns appropriately.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
