Base Salary
$250k - $530k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the multi-year technical strategy for the next-generation servicing system, AI-based workflows, and platform integrations across Rocket.
- Own the architectural direction and cross-cutting platform investments for Servicing Tech’s modernization.
- Own multi-year technical bets end-to-end and remain accountable for their outcomes.
- Advise executive leadership on technology strategy, build-versus-buy decisions, and major technical investments.
- Drive alignment across engineering organizations and resolve foundational architectural trade-offs.
- Maintain an external engineering presence through talks, writing, open-source contributions, or standards-body participation.
- Mentor Principal Engineers and develop future Distinguished Engineers while shaping the engineering culture.
- Participate in an on-call rotation when required, including possible nights and weekends.
Requirements
- Significant tenure as a senior individual contributor, typically on a Principal-or-equivalent track, with company-wide impact across multiple domains.
- Hands-on experience leading enterprise-scale platform-building efforts.
- Sustained external recognition or presence in the engineering community.
- Evidence of owning at least one multi-year technical bet end-to-end with accountability for the outcome.
- Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science or a related field is welcomed but secondary to demonstrated impact and recognition.
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience designing and stewarding foundational platforms used by multiple product teams.
- Track record of cross-domain technical impact that altered the trajectory of multiple parts of a business.
- Experience translating research, emerging tools, or industry shifts into production-grade platforms.
- External recognition demonstrated through at least two qualifying activities, such as conference talks, cited writing, open-source maintenance, standards-body participation, or external advisory roles.
- Experience advising executives and translating long-term technical strategy into actionable business terms.
- Track record of developing senior individual contributors, including Principal Engineers, into the next level.
