Base Salary
$200k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Learn Ascend’s platform, product, and customer workflows by collaborating with team members and engaging with customers
- Build user-facing projects with Ruby on Rails and Next.js
- Partner with product managers and designers to solve customer challenges
- Own end-to-end features that process millions of dollars in insurance premiums
- Build intuitive UIs for financial operations
- Develop internal tools to streamline customer workflows
- Maintain product quality through monitoring and continuous improvements
- Translate customer needs into scalable solutions for the insurance industry
- Develop a point-of-sale system for insurance and improve payment conversion rates
- Automate back-office tasks with AI for accounting teams
- Help shape technical architecture and processes as the platform scales
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer
- At least 2 years of experience working in a growth-stage startup
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience building and scaling consumer products
- Strong desire to learn new skills and solve business problems
- Familiarity with or interest in learning Ruby on Rails and Next.js is preferred
- Familiarity with external APIs and integrations such as Salesforce is preferred
- Experience building payment, checkout, or insurance products is preferred
