Base Salary
$167k - $209k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable DBaaS control-plane and infrastructure systems.
- Translate customer and system requirements into technical designs and deliverable workstreams.
- Improve resource utilization, fault tolerance, availability, and performance under production load.
- Build lifecycle capabilities including automated failover, continuous backups, point-in-time recovery, and maintenance workflows.
- Scale platform infrastructure for data-intensive and AI inference-adjacent workloads.
- Lead technical decisions, design reviews, code reviews, and cross-team engineering projects.
- Mentor engineers and improve technical and code-quality standards.
- Establish observability, failover, and recovery practices; participate in on-call and apply incident learnings to platform improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or data-plane/control-plane infrastructure.
- Experience diagnosing and solving complex, high-concurrency engineering problems in production cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, failure modes, multi-region systems, and performance optimization in Linux and cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL engine internals, including query performance, replication, and scaling is preferred.
- Experience scaling services for the compute, memory, and networking demands of data-intensive or AI inference-adjacent workloads is preferred.
- Experience driving complex cross-team technical projects, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical tradeoffs clearly.
