Base Salary
$238k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Python and Go backend services, APIs, AWS Bedrock AgentCore/ECS Fargate agent runtimes, and event-driven Lambda handlers.
- Build RAG pipelines and tool-calling AI agents with retrieval, orchestration, grounding, citations, evaluation, prompt caching, and structured outputs.
- Integrate model providers through the LLM Gateway and build evaluation harnesses, guardrails, tracing, and quality, latency, and cost monitoring.
- Build dbt services, Airflow/MWAA orchestration, platform CLI capabilities, and reusable utilities for governed and discoverable data products.
- Maintain AWS infrastructure with Terraform and GitHub Actions, including container builds, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and cost controls.
- Implement OAuth/OIDC authentication, token handling, least-privilege IAM, secrets management, multi-tenant isolation, and per-user identity/RBAC.
- Set technical direction through system and API design, code review, mentoring, and ownership of service reliability and delivery.
Requirements
- 15+ years designing, building, and maintaining production backend services at scale.
- Expert-level Python, Go, or Java for server-side development, including familiarity with relevant frameworks and WSGI/ASGI.
- Experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs, streaming patterns, pagination, versioning, idempotency, and backward-compatible contracts.
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, query optimization, indexing, transactions, connection pooling, Snowflake, and DynamoDB.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency and asynchronous programming, performance, reliability, testing, Git, and production observability.
- Production AWS experience with ECS/containers, Lambda, IAM, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, plus Terraform, CI/CD, and container builds.
- Experience building production LLM applications, including RAG, embeddings, vector or hybrid search, reranking, agents, tool use, structured outputs, and model-provider integrations.
- Experience with AI quality and security practices such as evaluation harnesses, guardrails, tracing, prompt-injection defenses, PII handling, and identity/RBAC enforcement.
- Preferred experience with dbt, Airflow/MWAA, Snowflake, MCP, applied RAG, Slack platform development, Monte Carlo, fine-tuning, semantic caching, model routing, Iceberg, lakehouse patterns, or Tableau.
