Software Engineer - State Compliance

- Collaborate with product managers, compliance specialists, QA engineers, and software engineers to deliver state reporting capabilities.
- Translate state technical specifications into software requirements, data mappings, validation rules, and test scenarios.
- Develop and modernize C# and .NET applications, data-processing services, reporting workflows, APIs, and system integrations.
- Extract and transform records-management data, apply state-specific validation rules, and generate compliant IBR submissions.
- Build and maintain integrations using state-required formats, protocols, and submission methods.
- Create automated tests covering reporting rules, transformations, state variations, and product-release compatibility.
- Contribute to automated build, test, and deployment pipelines, technical designs, code reviews, planning, and architectural decisions.
- Use and validate AI-assisted development tools and help create repeatable AI-enabled engineering workflows.
- Support production systems through logging, monitoring, diagnostics, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Share technical knowledge and improve team practices and engineering standards.
Requirements
- At least two years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency with C# and modern .NET application development.
- Experience designing and maintaining data-processing applications, background services, APIs, or system integrations.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL for analysis, application development, and troubleshooting.
- Experience writing automated unit, integration, and component tests.
- Ability to interpret detailed technical documentation and translate it into reliable software behavior.
- Experience modernizing established applications without regressions or loss of customer compatibility.
- Experience developing, deploying, or supporting applications in AWS or a comparable cloud environment.
- Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD tooling.
- Experience applying secure development practices to application code, integrations, cloud resources, and sensitive data.
- Experience using and critically evaluating AI-assisted development tools for practical engineering work.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a CJIS-compliant fingerprint-based background check.
- Preferred: experience in public safety, criminal justice, government reporting, or another regulated domain.
- Preferred: familiarity with Lambda, S3, SQS, CloudWatch, IAM, Infrastructure as Code, structured data formats, configurable validation engines, Angular, TypeScript, Jest, Playwright, Docker, Dev Containers, observability platforms, and AI or large-language-model development workflows.
