Base Salary
$120k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Shape the technical direction for Surety underwriting modernization and the transition from legacy systems to a React and NestJS platform.
- Translate business needs into scalable, globally capable technical solutions with product, engineering, and delivery teams.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural support for one or more engineering teams and contractor-led delivery teams.
- Lead design discussions and influence system and application-level technical decisions.
- Improve technical quality, consistency, maintainability, scalability, and execution predictability.
- Mentor engineers and raise technical capability across teams.
Requirements
- Eight or more years of software engineering experience with demonstrated principal-level technical impact.
- Strong experience designing and building scalable, maintainable software systems.
- Proven ability to lead technical discussions, drive design decisions, and influence without authority.
- Experience with AI Engineering practices such as Agentic Development and spec-driven development.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and operations in evolving environments.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with broader technical leadership responsibilities.
- Experience supporting modernization efforts and/or complex enterprise systems is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
