Base Salary

$177k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy production ML models for ego-motion estimation and localization, including pose estimation, sensor calibration, map matching, and sensor fusion.
  • Build scalable PyTorch training and evaluation workflows using distributed training infrastructure and large-scale real-world datasets.
  • Develop state-estimation and sensor-fusion algorithms for vehicle pose, velocity, and acceleration.
  • Analyze vehicle data to identify failure modes and improve model and system performance.
  • Develop production software in modern C++ and Python, including performance optimization, testing, debugging, and maintenance across the development lifecycle.
  • Define localization evaluation, verification, and validation strategies for robustness and safety.
  • Make technical design and architecture decisions balancing performance, efficiency, robustness, and production constraints.
  • Collaborate with perception, mapping, planning, controls, and platform teams on integrated autonomous-driving capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant industry experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 3+ years or a PhD with 1+ year of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with autonomous-vehicle or robotics localization systems such as LiDAR-based localization, visual odometry, SLAM, or map-based pose estimation.
  • Strong experience developing and deploying ML models for perception, localization, or sensor-fusion applications.
  • Proficiency with PyTorch and modern ML tooling for training, inference, and optimization.
  • Understanding of 3D geometry, probabilistic estimation, coordinate transforms, and robotics fundamentals.
  • Experience working with large multimodal datasets and building scalable processing, labeling, and evaluation pipelines.
  • Strong Python and C++ software-engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred experience with factor graphs, Kalman filtering, nonlinear optimization, Ray, Kubernetes, embedded and real-time constraints, simulation, synthetic data, uncertainty-aware ML, open-source robotics or ML frameworks, and ISO 26262.
