Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a squad of engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable software.
  • Design and build complex components across backend and edge/IoT domains.
  • Implement CI/CD processes and containerisation strategies using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ship production-ready code in Python and compiled languages such as Rust, C++, or Go.
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into software architectures.
  • Explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in application development and a deep understanding of modern system architecture and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language, with a track record of shipping code to paying customers.
  • A leadership mindset with the ability to empower engineers and foster technical excellence.
  • Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and deployment on bare metal or Kubernetes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with client-side engineers and senior business leaders.
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) and willingness to work on customer sites across the UK.

Benefits

  • Work 2 to 4 days per week on-site with Defence customers, with travel to locations throughout the UK potentially required.
  • When not on client sites, work from the London office or remotely elsewhere within the UK.
  • Part-time hours may be discussed.
  • The interview process includes a talent screen, role introduction, system design interview, pair programming interview, and commercial and leadership interview.
