Responsibilities

  • Lead SerDes firmware architecture, development, integration, bring-up, validation, optimization, and customer delivery.
  • Develop embedded C/C++ firmware for hardware calibration, training algorithms, DSP adaptations, link state management, and device interfaces.
  • Build C and Python SDKs, Python-based lab tools and GUIs, diagnostics frameworks, register-access utilities, and board/interface configuration APIs.
  • Define and execute pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, including simulation, FPGA emulation, regression testing, silicon debug, and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with ASIC, digital design, verification, hardware, systems, software, applications, validation, vendors, and customers to meet requirements and performance goals.
  • Lead technical or project execution for teams of 2–8 engineers, coordinate milestones and releases, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Translate protocol and system requirements into firmware architecture, implementation, documentation, test cases, and reliable production features.
  • Drive cross-functional resolution of integration, chip bring-up, hardware, silicon, and low-level software issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 5+ years or a PhD with 4+ years.
  • 7+ years of embedded C/C++ firmware development experience for hardware IP or SoCs, with strong C/C++ and Python proficiency.
  • At least 3 years of programming experience with languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with ARM, RISC-V, or MIPS architectures and low-level programming in bare metal, RTOS, BIOS/UEFI firmware, Linux kernel, or device drivers.
  • Technical or team leadership experience delivering embedded software from specification through production.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architecture, memory-mapped registers, interrupt service routines, and boot flows.
  • Experience controlling analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuits and working with SerDes, Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, D2D, UCIe, or chiplet products.
  • Hands-on silicon bring-up and lab debugging experience using scopes, JTAG debuggers, I2C/SPI tools, analyzers, and custom tooling.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools, digital verification methodologies, Verilog, SystemVerilog, Git, and software development practices.
  • Preferred qualifications include RTOS, embedded Linux, Buildroot, Yocto, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, device drivers, FPGA and SoC validation, high-speed IO, calibration and signal conditioning, Python or Bash automation, and protocols such as DDR, USB, NVMe, CAN, MIPI/CSI, GMSL, A2B, I2S, TDM, and LVDS.
  • Preferred experience includes Xilinx, Zed, MicroZed, Jira, Confluence, Agile/Scrum, open-source contributions, and knowledge of signal integrity, EMC, eye diagrams, jitter, BER, SNR, CTLE, DFE, and FFE.
