Base Salary
$134k - $268k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own features end to end from data consumption and SQL querying through API logic, computation, and client-facing UI.
- Work directly with users and business stakeholders to understand pain points, shape solutions, and own delivery through measurable impact.
- Navigate the data platform and build scalable, secure pipelines and curated data layers for analytics, risk insights, and insurance recommendations.
- Implement accurate mathematical computations for exposure analysis, loss projections, premium calculations, and price-impact modeling.
- Develop TypeScript/Node.js backend services and APIs using NestJS or comparable frameworks.
- Build modern React experiences with component architecture, state management, and data-rich interfaces.
- Integrate AI tools and emerging models, workflows, and development practices into engineering work where they create business value.
- Develop insurance and actuarial domain understanding and translate ambiguous needs into production-ready software.
Requirements
- Strong production experience with TypeScript/Node.js and NestJS or comparable backend frameworks.
- Strong React skills, including component architecture, state management, and data-heavy user interfaces.
- Strong SQL and data-querying skills, including the ability to self-serve from Databricks or similar data platforms.
- Solid mathematical and quantitative skills for accurately implementing and validating computations.
- Experience building APIs and services connecting data, computation, and user-facing applications.
- High ownership, sound judgment, and comfort working independently from ambiguous requirements.
- Confidence working directly with users and stakeholders to understand problems and shape practical solutions.
- Ability to learn quickly and build expertise in insurance, risk, and actuarial concepts.
- AI-native development experience, including daily use of AI tools and experience shaping AI-augmented engineering practices.
- Preferred experience with data visualization libraries such as D3, Recharts, or AG Charts.
- Preferred experience shipping internal tools, automations, or AI-enabled workflows with measurable business impact.
- Preferred experience with pricing, underwriting, exposure, claims, or risk analytics products.
- Preferred familiarity with lakehouse or data engineering patterns and production practices across testing, observability, and performance.
- Preferred experience in highly embedded, user-facing engineering roles and high-autonomy startup-style environments.
- Academic depth in Computer Science or another STEM field is a preferred qualification.
