Responsibilities
- Partner with customer executives, clinical leaders, informaticists, pharmacists, IT/data teams, and end users to understand workflows, constraints, adoption barriers, and desired outcomes.
- Translate ambiguous customer needs into hypotheses, use cases, success metrics, acceptance criteria, prototypes, and implementation options.
- Design, code, integrate, test, and deploy prototypes and product extensions using WK Health assets, APIs, data, AI capabilities, and platform services.
- Apply healthcare integration patterns including HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, secure APIs, and cloud-native approaches.
- Use automated testing, observability, secure SDLC practices, and AI-assisted or agentic development with human accountability.
- Convert field-built solutions into reusable APIs, connectors, reference architectures, templates, evaluation harnesses, playbooks, and product backlog input.
- Build AI-enabled workflows with trusted content, human oversight, auditability, and post-deployment monitoring.
- Partner with clinical, editorial, security, privacy, legal, and compliance teams on responsible AI, healthcare safety, and data governance.
- Lead cross-functional virtual squads or technical workstreams as needed and measure customer outcomes, adoption, time-to-value, reuse, reliability, and engineering quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, biomedical informatics, data science, health informatics, engineering, or equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree is preferred but not required.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, customer-facing engineering, solution architecture, technical product management, or related product technology roles.
- Production-quality software experience in enterprise and/or regulated environments.
- Healthcare technology experience involving clinical workflows, EHR, payer or pharmacy systems, healthcare data platforms, or digital health.
- Experience with healthcare standards and systems such as HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, RxNorm, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT, NDC, Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, Athenahealth, or payer platforms.
- Experience with AI/GenAI, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, AI evaluation, prompt/retrieval testing, or responsible AI governance.
- Ability to turn customer or stakeholder problems into requirements, prototypes, working software, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C#, Go, or comparable languages; mobile development is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate across product, technology, commercial, clinical, security, customer, privacy, legal, and compliance teams.
