Base Salary
$190k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, architecture, boundaries, dependencies, and data contracts for a software domain.
- Define high-level technical requirements, scalability, security, and integration considerations with the Technical Product Manager.
- Coordinate with other Engineering Leads to avoid redundant systems and align cross-domain approaches.
- Run technical reviews for funded projects and answer architectural questions during implementation.
- Set, maintain, and enforce shared technical standards across engineering.
- Write code, build systems, solve difficult domain problems, and review production incidents for architectural causes.
- Lead projects when needed, including requirements, reviews, ticket breakdown, delegation, and stakeholder coordination.
- Evaluate emerging AI development frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Mentor engineers and coach Project Leads through difficult technical decisions.
Requirements
- Deep experience designing, building, and operating complex software systems.
- Ability to work as both an architect and an individual contributor.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing technical work and making clear architectural decisions.
- Proficiency with Python, Django, Amazon Web Services (AWS), React, and PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency developing with AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
- Experience setting technical direction across teams without being the manager.
- Ability to learn and understand the insurance domain.
- Clear communication across engineering, product, and business audiences.
- Low ego, high emotional quotient, and ability to influence without authority.
- Experience working with distributed, remote teams.
