Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own significant areas of an Electron desktop application, including process architecture, native integrations, web-to-desktop interfaces, and lifecycle management.
- Configure, integrate, upgrade, and investigate compatibility and performance issues in the Chromium runtime.
- Build Windows API and native-system integrations for hardware discovery, process management, application protocols, GPU preferences, system configuration, and enterprise desktop behavior.
- Deliver complex features from investigation and technical design through implementation, validation, and release.
- Design secure boundaries between hosted web applications and privileged desktop functionality, including process isolation, API exposure, navigation controls, and inter-process communication.
- Diagnose runtime, memory, startup, security, operating-system, and application-integration issues using debugging, profiling, crash diagnostics, and telemetry tools.
- Collaborate with build, release, quality, security, product, and partner engineering teams to build, package, test, and operate the platform reliably.
- Review code and designs, contribute to architecture records and technical documentation, identify technical debt and platform risks, and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience developing Electron applications, Chromium-based applications, native desktop software, or comparable systems-level application platforms.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, asynchronous programming, process boundaries, security, and software lifecycle management.
- Experience independently delivering complex software features from design through production and troubleshooting across multiple technology layers.
- Experience with automated testing, source control, code review, and continuous integration practices.
- Preferred qualifications include deep Electron architecture knowledge, Chromium architecture or build-system experience, C++, native Node.js modules, Windows systems programming, GN, Ninja, installers, application signing, enterprise deployment, application updating, threat modeling, shared platform APIs, and engineering mentorship.
