Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that act as a force multiplier for the team.
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call support.
- Establish code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
- Design, develop, launch, and evolve highly available backend systems at scale.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Experience using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Extensive experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code and understand systems from low-level language idioms through large-scale architecture.
- Demonstrated growth through gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
