Base Salary
$134k - $179k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced threat-detection capabilities to identify and mitigate cyber threats.
- Create custom detection logic and alerts using industry-standard tooling and query languages.
- Lead or participate in real-time security incident response, containment, and remediation.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting and research emerging threats, attack vectors, and detection methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Purple and Red Teams to improve security visibility and detection effectiveness.
- Contribute to security architecture, controls, assessments, compliance initiatives, and detection tooling.
- Participate in on-call coverage, including weekends and holidays, and support active incidents outside normal business hours.
Requirements
- Extensive experience crafting custom alert logic and detections across multiple technical domains and teams.
- Proficiency in at least one query language, such as SQL, Splunk Query Language, or HiveQL.
- Competency writing detections in languages such as Python, Bash, Go, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes fundamentals and strong knowledge of Linux or macOS internals and relevant event sources such as eBPF and Endpoint Security Framework.
- Experience collaborating with Purple and Red Teams and applying findings to detection capabilities.
- Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, and the Incident Response Lifecycle.
- Preferred qualifications include deep Kubernetes security knowledge, open-source security contributions or detection-tooling experience, and experience with advanced analytics or machine learning for detection.
