Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support firmware and embedded software for new and legacy products.
- Implement low-level firmware modules, middleware, sample applications, diagnostics, and embedded software for optical PHY chipsets.
- Troubleshoot and debug embedded C firmware applications.
- Collaborate with system, analog hardware, and digital hardware design teams.
- Provide leadership and expertise in standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene practices.
- Recruit and motivate technical talent while representing Broadcom.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of related experience, or a master's degree and 6+ years of related experience, or a PhD and 3+ years of related experience.
- Strong software development, documentation, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience developing with C and ARM Assembly on embedded targets.
- Understanding of real-time systems, multithreading, concurrent programming, multiprocessor programming, and inter-processor communication.
- Experience with embedded drivers such as MDIO, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience with ARM processors is complementary.
- Experience developing on Windows using the Visual C/C++ environment is complementary.
- Experience developing on Linux systems and understanding proprietary software interfaces to GPL, LGPL, and ASL-licensed components are complementary.
