Responsibilities
- Define and lead the architecture of the Quantum Infrastructure layer between low-level control software and user-facing services.
- Integrate requirements for qubit calibration, stabilization loops, and error-correction cycles with quantum hardware and control software teams.
- Design real-time and near-real-time feedback systems connecting hardware, error-correction logic, and automation systems.
- Architect data and service layers for quantum error-correction frameworks, lattice configurations, syndrome extraction, decoding, and long-term state tracking.
- Define a robust quantum circuit compilation stack supporting multiple frameworks and future upgrades.
- Serve as a technical authority, mentor senior engineers, influence cross-team technical direction, and drive architectural strategy and execution.
Requirements
- 12+ years building large-scale, high-reliability systems, infrastructure layers, or scientific platforms.
- Experience architecting complex infrastructure and data-heavy distributed systems.
- Superior proficiency in Python, asynchronous frameworks, service design, data orchestration, and performance optimization.
- Deep expertise with SQL, NoSQL, time-series, object storage, and distributed filesystem technologies.
- Hands-on experience with schedulers, workflow engines, configuration graphs, data pipelines, and other automation systems.
- Experience defining abstractions and synchronization mechanisms for hardware/software interaction loops.
- Understanding of containerization, Kubernetes, reproducible environments, multi-tenant architecture, and hybrid HPC/cloud deployments.
- Strong leadership ability to influence across teams, align with research and hardware groups, drive modernization, and execute at scale.
- Bonus: familiarity with scientific environments, low-level instrumentation flows, experimental automation, distributed scheduling, or HPC environments.
- Bonus: experience delivering hardware-backed products to external users and knowledge of Rust, C++, or Go for performance-critical or system-level components.
