Responsibilities
- Build and maintain next-generation Java libraries and JVM infrastructure for Snowflake’s scalable data platform.
- Improve the safety, efficiency, security, performance, availability, and reliability of Java infrastructure.
- Identify and troubleshoot performance and availability issues, implement solutions, and instrument key components.
- Use proactive monitoring and automation to improve infrastructure reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams on large-scale data infrastructure challenges.
Requirements
- Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Java systems.
- Understanding of Java fundamentals, the JVM, and core libraries.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Eagerness to learn JVM internals and performance tuning.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Bonus experience with multithreading, concurrency, caching, database or Linux internals, and large-scale high-performance systems.
