Base Salary
$165k - $183k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, development, and integration of complex software systems.
- Develop production-quality C++ software in a Linux environment.
- Establish technical direction across application, middleware, interface, and deployment layers.
- Integrate distributed applications using gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data-driven interface models.
- Integrate COTS, open-source, and custom-developed software components.
- Diagnose software, networking, concurrency, performance, and system integration problems.
- Define unit, component, integration, and system-level test strategies.
- Lead code and design reviews while promoting secure coding and configuration management practices.
- Mentor software engineers and coordinate technical work across teams and disciplines.
- Communicate technical status, risks, recommendations, and recovery plans to leadership, customers, and partner organizations.
- Support software integration and issue resolution in laboratory and Navy platform environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a related STEM field plus 8 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong modern C++ development experience.
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
- U.S. citizenship required for access to classified information.
- Strong Linux experience, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux or a derivative.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting distributed, event-driven, or service-oriented systems.
- Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, networking, and asynchronous or multithreaded software.
- Experience with automated testing, Git-based configuration management, and Agile and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience integrating software with tactical, combat, weapon-control, or other mission-critical systems.
- Experience serving as a technical lead for a complex software product or integration effort.
- Strong technical judgment, ownership, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to translate system requirements and interface definitions into maintainable software designs.
- Ability to identify responsible uses of approved AI tools for engineering productivity and quality.
