Responsibilities

Architect, design, and implement scalable services and product features using PHP and Laravel.
Build and maintain frontend features using JavaScript and TypeScript.
Use AI tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, debugging, performance optimization, documentation, and architectural exploration.
Evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, maintainability, and architectural alignment.
Lead technical design discussions and contribute to system and API architecture decisions.
Own complex features from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Improve code quality, performance, reliability, security, automated test coverage, and observability.
Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and coach teammates on effective and responsible AI usage.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business requirements into scalable solutions.
Contribute to AWS cloud infrastructure and services and participate in compensated on-call rotations.
Champion DevOps practices, CI/CD improvements, and long-term platform sustainability initiatives.

6-8 years of extensive professional experience in backend software development.
Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel.
Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript for modern frontend development.
Advanced proficiency using AI tools in day-to-day engineering work and the ability to validate, refine, and productionize AI-assisted outputs.
Experience improving team-level engineering practices and independently leading complex technical initiatives.
Deep understanding of API design, distributed systems, scalable architecture patterns, relational databases, and data models.
Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments and modern DevOps practices.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and ambiguity-navigation skills.
Experience participating in on-call rotations to support backend service reliability.
Bonus: experience integrating AI capabilities into production products, designing AI-enabled experiences or backend AI services, automotive or SaaS experience, Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, high-scale optimization, or multi-product platforms.
Bilingual English-French ability is considered an asset.
