Base Salary
$140k - $372k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship maintainable technical solutions that scale across GitHub services.
- Set technical direction for the macOS platform and lead architecture, execution, rollout, and long-term operational ownership.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, pairing, code reviews, and guidance on extensible and maintainable software.
- Own system health and quality, including rotating on-call participation and live incident response.
- Write architecture briefs and proposals, conduct code experiments, and design APIs for software integration.
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines and guide testing plans, success metrics, customer feedback integration, and security and compliance alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on technical, design, cost, roadmap, and product-goal decisions.
- Use debugging tools and telemetry to resolve issues and improve code performance and maintainability.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of relevant software engineering or related technical experience with production software delivery, or an accepted education-and-experience alternative.
- Qualifying alternatives include an associate degree plus 8 years, bachelor's degree plus 7 years, master's degree plus 5 years, doctorate plus 3 years, or equivalent experience.
- Production coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
- Willingness and ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule providing 24/7 coverage for one week every 2.5 months.
- Preferred experience includes scripting, cloud environments, CNCF concepts, large-scale cloud architecture, distributed systems, microservices, CI/CD at scale, macOS or iOS development, and cross-functional product delivery.
- Preferred experience includes Ruby, React, Go, JavaScript or TypeScript, MySQL, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, Datadog, Sentry, or Azure Data Explorer.
