Responsibilities
- Improve the UX and performance of Retool’s core editor, including its drag-and-drop system.
- Expand the types of applications users can build across different parts of the development process.
- Debug customer problems and build product features and integrations to address them.
- Work across the frontend and backend to build, ship, and iterate on new features.
- Increase the scalability of Retool’s platform by improving application performance and reducing query latency.
- Own technically challenging cross-functional projects and participate in technical decision-making and planning.
- Help assess and recruit future engineers through interviewing.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience, ideally including startup experience.
- Experience owning technically challenging and demanding cross-functional projects.
- Full-stack experience spanning backend and frontend development.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Ability to make timely technical decisions while involving key stakeholders.
- Customer-first mindset and willingness to talk with customers about product needs.
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is preferred.
- Experience with PostgreSQL is preferred.
- Mentoring experience and close collaboration with designers are beneficial.
