Base Salary
$140k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build a unified database observability platform providing real-time visibility into availability, security posture, reliability metrics, and latency.
- Design and implement secure MCP interfaces for AI agents to query and interact with production databases under strict access controls.
- Develop an agentic AI DBA for performance tuning, capacity planning, schema review, incident triage, and remediation.
- Create self-service workflows for product engineers to provision, configure, scale, and manage PostgreSQL and Redis instances with security and compliance guardrails.
- Establish database reliability practices covering connection pooling, query optimization, backup and restore, failover, and change management.
- Partner with engineering teams on database performance issues, schema reviews, data modeling, and access patterns.
- Participate in on-call rotations for database incidents.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Kotlin.
- Deep experience with PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, query optimization, replication, backup and recovery, schema design, and operational best practices.
- Experience with Redis, including data modeling, clustering, persistence strategies, and operational management.
- Hands-on infrastructure and cloud experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud provider, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Demonstrated experience building automation, tooling, or platforms that replace manual operational work.
- Strong system design skills and the ability to architect reliable, scalable infrastructure services.
- Preferred: experience with Google CloudSQL, Google Memorystore, internal developer platforms, database-as-a-service systems, or self-service infrastructure tooling.
- Preferred: experience with AI/ML technologies, LLM integration, AI-powered automation, MCP, observability tools, and monitoring or alerting systems.
- Preferred: experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries involving data integrity, security, and compliance.
