Responsibilities

  • Develop communication, localization, and sensing applications for industrial automation and medical use cases on NXP edge devices.
  • Gather stakeholder requirements, participate in system architecture definition, and implement, deploy, and test proof-of-concept solutions using the NXP Edge-AI platform.
  • Contribute to system and application-level innovations, research projects, system demonstrators, and reference designs.
  • Collaborate across engineering domains and with external project partners in German and European innovation projects.
  • Support competency development by supervising student projects and sharing knowledge.
  • Represent NXP at customer events, trade shows, exhibitions, and external project consortia.
  • Perform embedded software development, hardware interfacing, testing, debugging, validation, commissioning, and security-related work where assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Security/Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Practical embedded software development experience through full-time work and/or student activities, including microcontroller or microprocessor programming and sensor or chip interfacing.
  • Experience across the software development lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, debugging, validation, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of PCB schematics and layout design, soldering, and measurement equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with embedded software development and configuration-management environments, including Git and Docker.
  • Experience with FreeRTOS, low-footprint bare-metal operating systems, Android, and Linux/WSL.
  • Python programming and AI tool usage knowledge are assets.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with a collaborative, self-motivated, adaptive, and results-oriented approach.
  • Fluent C1-level spoken and written English; German is an asset.
  • Ability to work conscientiously on security-related tasks and assignments within the scope of security certifications.
