Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack Web Development – GCP & Vertex AI Focus

Responsibilities
- Develop full-stack web applications and services integrated with GCP-native services.
- Design and implement AI-powered search, semantic retrieval, recommendations, and content discovery using Vertex AI Search.
- Define search schemas, indexing and ingestion pipelines, relevance signals, abstraction layers, APIs, and result contracts.
- Build secure APIs and backend services for web and mobile search and recommendation clients.
- Collaborate with product, UX, marketing, data science, and ML partners on experimentation, analytics, personalization, and A/B testing.
- Lead technical decisions, mentor less experienced engineers, and help improve engineering culture and productivity.
- Automate testing, quality gates, and delivery pipelines while improving reliability and observability.
- Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks across browsers, edge systems, and cloud services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of web application development experience.
- Strong frontend and backend skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java, Python, and/or server-side JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads on GCP, including Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL or Spanner, and BigQuery.
- Experience with AI-powered search or recommendation systems, ideally Vertex AI Search or similar semantic or vector search platforms.
- Experience with system design, testing, debugging, automation, and performance optimization.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 7+ years of scalable web application experience, ReactJS, Adobe Experience Manager, Akamai, Microsoft Azure, Helm, Terraform, ArgoCD, Vertex AI Search schemas and tuning, and LLM or embedding-based retrieval, RAG, experimentation, and personalization.
