Base Salary
$166k - $331k/yr
Responsibilities
- Oversee system architecture for critically important technical domains and broad product or service areas.
- Create, document, review, and maintain strategic roadmaps for evolving system architectures.
- Establish and influence policies for extensible, reusable, maintainable code, coding quality, and effective code reviews.
- Write proof-of-concept code and develop production code as needed.
- Maintain live-service operations through rotational on-call support.
- Contribute to innovations in Azure PostgreSQL database engine areas such as query processing, transaction logging and recovery, versioning, I/O subsystems, scale-out, and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and contribute to open-source PostgreSQL and Linux or develop extensions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline and 10+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with coding languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- 8+ years of experience developing and shipping system-level features in an enterprise production backend server system.
- 4+ years of experience building and supporting production-grade distributed cloud services.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar enterprise database management system internals, including query processing, storage engines, and high availability.
- Experience building distributed systems with strong guarantees.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and solve customer problems with empathy.
Benefits
- The role is a full-time position with a stated U.S. base pay range of USD $165,600-$296,400 per year, with a different range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
