Responsibilities
- Lead engineers responsible for Linux and VMware initiator stacks, Fibre Channel drivers, and NIC drivers on Pure Storage arrays.
- Develop, maintain, debug, and enhance Linux initiator, storage, Fibre Channel, NIC, multipathing, and link-health software.
- Maintain Linux kernels for internal testing and contribute bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream.
- Analyze and optimize storage-system and protocol performance, correctness, and resilience.
- Resolve difficult storage attachment, Fibre Channel, kernel, protocol, and system issues found internally or in the field.
- Create compatibility and supported-configuration documentation for customers and Purity.
- Maintain the Purity Fibre Channel SCSI target driver, including hardware updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Work on C++ middleware modules and develop test automation.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical delivery for projects.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software development experience; candidates typically have 15 or more years of experience.
- Strong experience writing Linux/Unix device drivers or developing Linux kernels.
- Experience designing and implementing significant components in storage protocol stacks and storage systems.
- Experience with storage protocols such as SCSI, FC-SCSI, iSCSI/FCP, NVMe/RoCE, NVMe/TCP, or NVMe/FC.
- Experience writing Linux storage device drivers, including Fibre Channel, NVMe, RoCE, block, and multipath modules.
- Experience with storage or networking device drivers, difficult protocol or kernel debugging, and storage attachment issues.
- Experience with storage performance analysis and optimization, network protocols including TCP/IP, and VMware initiator stacks.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python, with test-automation experience.
- Experience technically leading, mentoring, and coordinating other engineers.
- Linux upstreaming experience is preferred.
