Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable distributed backend APIs and services integrating with IBM Cloud.
- Guide the evolution of Sysdig’s managed service capabilities and long-term IBM Cloud integration architecture.
- Design IAM, authentication and authorization, service-to-service, resiliency, API, and data-modeling patterns.
- Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, and Partner teams on requirements and maintainable interfaces.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and improvements to engineering standards.
- Support quality, simplicity, clarity, SaaS operations, Kubernetes deployments, scaling, observability, and incident response practices.
Requirements
- Experience designing and building distributed backend systems and APIs, preferably data-heavy or high-throughput systems.
- Experience with cloud fundamentals including compute, networking, identity, and security, with the ability to learn IBM Cloud specifics.
- Experience with IAM and access patterns such as OAuth/OIDC, JWT, RBAC, or policy-based access; IBM Cloud IAM experience is a plus.
- Experience with SaaS operations and Kubernetes, including deployments, scaling, observability, and incident response.
- Development experience in Java, Go, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL data stores, including Postgres or other database systems.
- Understanding of API versioning, backward compatibility, consistency, and access control.
- Familiarity with standard engineering tools including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and containerization.
- Interest or experience in cloud security areas such as CSPM, CDR, or CIEM is appreciated but not required.
