Responsibilities
- Port existing C/C++ game titles as part of a planned porting programme.
- Analyse codebases and external dependencies, then implement the changes required for each platform.
- Tune and verify ported titles so performance, behaviour, rendering, and player experience match the originals.
- Establish and document a repeatable porting process for other engineers to follow.
- Oversee engineers applying the process, review their work, answer technical questions, and refine guidance.
- Use Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools for code analysis, conversion, and testing.
- Own software components, manage project plans independently, and deliver against agreed timelines.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Collaborate with QA engineers to investigate defects and verify ported titles.
Requirements
- Excellent programming knowledge and sound software engineering fundamentals.
- Advanced C and C++ skills, including memory management, performance optimisation, and low-level debugging.
- Hands-on graphics programming expertise with DirectX and/or OpenGL and rendering pipelines.
- Commercial experience porting or migrating games or comparable software.
- Ability to create reusable technical documentation and guide other engineers through a shared process.
- Confidence reviewing work, providing technical direction, and supporting engineering quality.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar.
- Clear communication, close collaboration with QA and engineering colleagues, and the ability to manage workload independently.
- Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with Claude Code in large or legacy codebases, commercial game development, casino/mobile/web/regulated gaming platforms, interface abstraction or refactoring, build systems, development toolchains, automated testing, and Agile environments.
