Responsibilities
- Own software design and development for major components of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Virtual Machine platform and virtualization software stack.
- Define and apply operational practices that improve hypervisor and virtual machine platform quality, reliability, and performance.
- Investigate issues across Linux systems and distributed services to identify root causes and improve resilience and fault tolerance.
- Lead high-priority software initiatives, mentor team members, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience in system-level engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with OS kernel internals, such as memory management, device drivers, or kernel subsystems.
- 5+ years of experience with virtualization technologies such as QEMU/KVM, Hyper-V, or ESX.
- Proficiency in at least two of C, C++, Rust, Java, or C#.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and operating systems, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred qualifications include public cloud experience, cloud infrastructure quality assurance, GPU VMs, SmartNICs, SR-IOV/VFIO, live migration, TPM, confidential computing, and system performance analysis and tuning.
- A master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.
