Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously improve thermodynamic models and algorithms for steady-state and dynamic process simulations.
- Develop equations of state, activity coefficient models, property estimation methods, oil characterization, electrolyte systems, and distillation and phase-equilibrium algorithms.
- Develop scientific software primarily in C++ and use Python for scripting and integration.
- Automate numerical, thermodynamic, software-development, testing, validation, batch-processing, and customer-facing simulation workflows at scale.
- Work across the product lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, validation, technical documentation, and customer support.
- Validate models against experimental data and potentially contribute to publications or patents.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while independently owning complex thermodynamic capabilities.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a strong focus on thermodynamics is preferred.
- Solid experience developing or contributing to scientific software involving fluid modeling, phase-equilibrium calculations, equations of state, activity coefficient models, property estimation, electrolyte systems, or characterization methods.
- Strong applied numerical-methods background for thermodynamic calculations.
- Strong demonstrated experience automating complex numerical, thermodynamic, and software-development workflows at scale.
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for scientific or engineering software development is highly desirable.
- Experience with electrolyte thermodynamics and/or distillation algorithms is a strong plus.
- Ability to work across design, implementation, testing, validation, and documentation.
- Ability to adapt to different programming languages, technologies, and modeling approaches.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Background in data science or machine learning is a plus but not required.
- Experience using or developing commercial process simulation software is advantageous.
