Lead Engineer - Embedded SW Development
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Translate high-level system requirements into firmware architectures and low-level design specifications.
- Lead the design, coding, testing, debugging, integration, release, and maintenance of mission-critical embedded software.
- Optimize the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources for power generation control systems.
- Develop and oversee formal design verification and validation plans with firmware test teams.
- Lead design reviews, source-code reviews, unit-test framework reviews, and requirements documentation reviews.
- Collaborate as a primary technical interface between hardware design, systems engineering, and product teams.
- Champion automated unit and regression testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party and open-source software while maintaining cybersecurity compliance.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, mentorship, and support for global cross-functional programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of professional experience in embedded software programming.
- Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting software on embedded targets.
- Advanced C/C++ programming skills and in-depth understanding of microprocessor architectures.
- Experience with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems, preferably QNX.
- Experience with automated unit testing for C/C++ and software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer-review processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in global, multifunctional teams.
- Preferred experience with MarkVIe firmware, industrial communication protocols, secure software design, cybersecurity for industrial control systems, global program leadership, and mentoring junior engineers.
- C# experience for tooling or utility applications is preferred.
