Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate gateway routing, service discovery, rate limiting, quotas, and policy enforcement capabilities.
- Build Go and Lua gateway extensions and filters for authentication, authorization, token exchange, request shaping, and telemetry.
- Implement dual authentication, OAuth2/OIDC token exchange, validation, caching, replay protection, and trust-store management.
- Establish mutual TLS to backends and standardize API registration and onboarding patterns using Kubernetes/EKS and Consul.
- Automate deployments with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools, including blue/green and canary releases with signed artifacts.
- Plan and operate hybrid and multi-region AWS topologies with global routing, health checks, failover, disaster recovery, and chaos drills.
- Define patching, upgrade, autoscaling, capacity-planning, and incident-response practices.
- Create onboarding documentation, example configurations, and self-service workflows for internal services.
- Participate in code reviews, address security vulnerabilities, collaborate across teams, and respond to production and stakeholder issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- At least 7 years of experience building backend or platform systems, including substantial traffic-management or API-platform experience.
- Strong Go development and Lua experience with NGINX/OpenResty.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services including EKS, EC2, ALB/NLB, Route 53, VPC/private networking, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and Bash/Python scripting skills, with excellent debugging and performance-tuning abilities.
- Strong communication, ownership, security-first thinking, and ability to address production issues promptly.
- Preferred experience with Kong Gateway, Envoy or NGINX, multi-region traffic management, resilience and disaster-recovery patterns, Redis/KeyDB, DynamoDB Global Tables, and observability stacks.
