Responsibilities
- Own a scoped, production-relevant project from design through testing on real robotic hardware.
- Develop robotics systems involving planning, kinematics, controls, feedback loops, visual servoing, localization, or navigation.
- Develop machine learning systems involving perception, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, learned planners, or sim-to-real training.
- Work on robot learning methods such as behavioral cloning, diffusion policies, or vision-language-action models for manipulation.
- Combine classical robotics and learning-based methods to improve robot capability.
- Present project results to the team at the end of the internship.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
- Coursework, research, or project experience in robotics or machine learning.
- Robot learning projects may require coursework or research in imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or diffusion-based policies, ideally applied to robot manipulation.
- Comfort working on Linux and using Git.
- Ability to learn quickly, debug difficult problems, and explain technical work clearly to people outside the specialty.
Benefits
- 12-week internship held next spring or summer.
- Dedicated mentor and regular collaboration with engineers across robotics, machine learning, and hardware.
- Daily free lunch.
- Competitive hourly pay.
- Opportunity to ship a project to robots performing real production work.
