Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the platform that schedules instruments, manages workflows, and tracks samples throughout automated synthesis.
- Build robust multi-step workflow orchestration with DAG execution, dependency resolution, and retry logic.
- Design scheduling systems handling contention, prioritization, batching, and hard and soft resource constraints.
- Ensure complete, attributable data provenance for samples, actions, and results.
- Build React interfaces showing experiment state, queue status, and system health.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, lab engineering, and scientists to improve reliability and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Experience building production MES, LIMS, ERP, or process control systems where correctness is critical.
- Experience with workflow and DAG orchestration, concurrent systems, resource scheduling, contention handling, and audit or provenance data modeling.
- Full-stack development experience with Python, React, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Experience with scheduling algorithms for shared resources and with physical lab, manufacturing, or materials environments is valuable.
- Experience with powder synthesis, ceramics, materials manufacturing, laboratory instrumentation protocols, event sourcing, or CQRS is especially valuable.
