Base Salary
$110k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own features end to end from technical design and development through deployment, monitoring, and continued improvement.
- Write clean, secure, readable, maintainable, and scalable code across frontend and backend systems.
- Design, integrate, and build internal and external APIs.
- Develop products and features while improving and modernizing existing systems.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and design relational database schemas.
- Create and maintain complex backend services and algorithms.
- Profile, troubleshoot, and optimize new and legacy code.
- Build responsive experiences for mobile, tablet, and desktop environments.
- Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering practices that improve quality, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and other cross-functional partners.
- Use approved AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully while maintaining accountability for architecture, security, privacy, and code quality.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional web development experience solving challenging problems and implementing new features from scratch.
- At least three years of SQL experience, including relational schema design and complex queries.
- Demonstrated full-stack projects or significant product features, including at least one major project with frontend code, backend code, and a database.
- Ability to design, develop, and launch a web application or substantial feature from start to finish.
- Deep understanding of web development concepts and principles.
- Familiarity with web application, data, and SQL security best practices.
- Comfort working outside framework abstractions and understanding underlying system behavior.
- Experience using Git in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to learn quickly, navigate an established codebase, and build skills independently.
- Sound engineering judgment and a thoughtful approach to modern development tools, including AI assistants.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Preferred experience with PHP, Laravel, or the LAMP/LEMP ecosystem.
- Preferred experience with React or Next.js and with modernizing established applications or incrementally replacing legacy systems.
- Experience in a startup, growth-stage company, or fast-moving environment is helpful.
- Experience building products in healthcare, mental health, or another regulated or privacy-sensitive field is helpful.
- Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of other engineers is helpful.
