Responsibilities
- Administer, install, configure, upgrade, and patch databases.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including capacity planning and detailed analysis.
- Perform database backup and complex recovery.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and recover from complex database issues.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts and open-source tools.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to application teams.
- Coordinate with internal IT teams and escalate issues to vendors for timely response and recovery.
- Gather requirements and design business and technical database solutions.
- Develop, test, and implement queries, stored procedures, and automation scripts for various database technologies.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in database administration, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, database tuning, and application design and development support.
- Proficiency in physical database modelling, information engineering, multi-tier design and development, and open systems.
- Knowledge and experience with database high availability and disaster recovery techniques and concepts.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing performance involving IO, CPU, indexes, partitions, and schema redesign.
- Familiarity with geo-redundant architectures such as Always-On, Active/Active, and Master/Master is advantageous.
- Relevant experience with Oracle, SQL Server, EDB Postgres, and MongoDB is preferred.
- Good interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
